Our Ethos: Thoughtfully Designed, Ethically Crafted. Slow Fashion, Made to Last.

 

Hi, I’m Darcie, owner and founder of Studio Pothos. I designed and made your bag. I do pretty much everything else around here too, with a bit of help from my partner and family.

Founded in 2022, Studio Pothos is operated out of my home studio in southern Ontario, along the shores of Lake Erie. 

After studying fashion at the University of Hawaii, I spent nearly a decade teaching sewing and leather working at an independent sewing studio in Toronto. From there I went on to do production for local fashion brands, before deciding to step out on my own and start Studio Pothos. 

From the first time I cut into it, leather quickly became one for my favourite materials to work with. Growing up I spent much of my time in dad's woodshop. Since then I have been interested in learning to handle different kinds of tools and materials, which led me in to fashion. Working with leather combines aspects of many forms of construction in a way that makes me eager to explore and keep expanding my skill set. 

Our design aesthetic is modern, sleek and simple, while incorporating elements of punk and vintage fashion. Something for any occasion, with a touch of edge. 

We strive to make pieces that are not just a passing trend, but that you will want to wear for years to come. Our products are crafted with this in mind as well. We work with high quality, full grain cow hide. Each piece is carefully cut and sewn by me. With quality materials and craftsmanship, we focus on sustainability by offering ethically made pieces that stand the test of time.
